BIAG NI LAM-ANG

BIAG NI LAM-ANG
(LIFE OF LAM-ANG)
Biag ni Lam-ang (Ilokano:"The Life of Lam-ang"), is a pre-Hispanic epic poem of the Ilokano people from the Ilocos region of the Phillipines. Recited and originally written in the Ilokano language, it is believed to be the work of many poets from various generations, and was first preserved in writing around 1640, by a blind Ilokano bard named Pedro Bucaneg.
Nine months before the birth of him at the royal family, while his father go to the mountains to destroy and punish an Igorot band. While the husband was away, Namongan gave birth to a baby boy, and the baby could talk immediately after birth. He picked his own name and told his mother to called him and be named Lam-ang. He asked her mother where his father was. He left his mother to look after his father, barely nine years old, Lam-ang go to the mountain where his father was killed by the Igorots. He found the Igorots still feasting around the severed head of his father. He fought the headhunters (Igorots) who killed his father. When he came back at their house he was very tired he decided to take a bath at the river of Amburayan. The water turned black and all the fish, also frogs died.
. He also journeyed to get the beautiful Ines Kannoyan accompanied by his pets; a rooster and a dog. Ines Kannoyan’s place was filled with suitors, Lam-ang’s rooster flap its wings and the long house toppled. This amazed every body, especially Ines. Then, Lam-ang’s dog barks and the long house rose to its former. Lam-ang gave Ines two golden ships filled with treasures, because that was the bride pride, the parents of Ines said that they will bestow the hands of Ines if Lam-ang can equal their wealth. With the help of his mother and transfolk, he was able to bring gold more than match the wealth of the Kannoyans. He married Ines and there was great celebration.
Finally, he was eaten by a giant shark called a berkakan while searching for a rare native fish called a rarang, but was revived by his pets when his bones were retrieved. The couple lived happily ever after with their pets.

Lam-ang is a hero, has a supernatural strength (power). He is brave and he shows the loyalty and love at his family especially at his father. He is not a selfish man.

REACTION
My reaction, Lam-ang was a truly hero he fight for the right. It is right to revenge because he lost his father and he maybe wanted to be with his father on his life.He also fights for his love who is Ines Kannoyan and can do anything for his loved ones.
Like what he has done it will be served as my guide also.
